Lecture : For over 15 years, laparoscopic liver resection(LLR) has gain popularity and become an integral procedure. With accumulation of evidence and many reports on the technical aspect, most types of LLR has been performed and being advancing. Besides the benefits of laparoscopic approach, such as lesser pain and better cosmetics, most LLR have been performed with less bleeding. Oncological perspectives of LLR also have been non-inferior to open liver resections. Hepatic surgeons usually learn LLR from minor resections and widen indications to major resections. Even though enough experiences of major LLR are obtained, we often go back to anatomic minor LLR. In fact, we often encounter patients with borderline hepatic function who are not suitable for major liver resection or open approach. In these cases, laparoscopic approach may offer good surgical and oncologic outcomes as long as procedures are anatomical. In this session, overview of technical perspectives of LLR from minor to major ones are presented. Additionally, how to extend indications are introduced.
