Introduction : It is a real problem for the poor people who want a minimally invasive liver resection for their liver disease, but cannot afford advanced energy instruments, such as Harmonic scalpel, Ligasure, and Thunderbeat. Hemostasis is always a concern in liver surgery. However, some poor patient's disease can be managed by laparoscopic liver resection without these advanced instruments.
Methods : Laparoscopic liver resection without advanced devices will be demonstrated in this video. It included two cases. The first case was non-anatomical resection for multiple recurrent hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) in S2, S4, S5, S8 of a cirrhotic liver, which were performed by sharp dissection with mono-electrode. Another case was anatomical resection of S2+S3 of HCC in a cirrhotic liver, which were performed by sharp dissection with mono-electrode and clamp crush method.
Results : This video presented two cases of laparoscopic liver resection without advanced energy devices.
Conclusions : Laparoscopic liver resection without advance energy devices may be an affordable option for selected patients whose liver tumours are not in difficult locations.
